He was at the Battle of Guildford County Courthouse. Said Malachi Cooper is the ancestor who assisted in establishing American Independence, while acting in the capacity of soldier.
    Patriot rendered material aid and received payment. North Carolina Revolutionary Army Accounts Volume IX, page 113, folio 4 in North Carolina Dept of Archives and History.

    To my knowledge you are right about David’s wife being Elizabeth. Mary has to be in error.

    Yes, Marcum purchased his first tract of land 22 October 1764, therefore he was born before the commonly accepted year of 1750. The deed is recorded in Edgecombe Deed Book C, page 305 with his named as Marcom Cooper. Tim Rackley.
