Edmund Rice was a member of the church at Sudbury where he was a Deacon. He represented the Town of Sudbury in the Massachusetts General Court (legislative assembly) in 1707 at Boston, MA.¹⁰
On 6 June 1710 John Rice surrendered to his brother Edmund Rice, by deed, all his right to land "by the spring, and on which some part of Deacon Edmund Rice's house then stood"
"... at the request of Mr. John Rice and Deacon Edmund Rice, we have stated a way from John Rice's house by the southerly side of Deacon Edmund's house to THE SPRING, May 10, 1710.

Thomas FrinkJohn Balcom Selectmen.¹⁰ On 14 Nov 1718 Edmund and Joyce Rice convey to their son Jason: "...for love and good will, convey unto our son Jason Rice, all of Sudbury," their homestead, viz: "half the house, half the barn, two-thirds of the meadow land, orchard and pastures."⁸ The inventory of his estate, £451.1.0, was taken by Jonathan Rice, Richard Parks, and Edward Sherman on 19 November 1719. On 24 November 1719, Samuel Abbot and Joyce his wife; Joseph Parmenter and Lydia his wife; and William Rice and Martha his wife "convey all our right to Hon'd father Edmund Rice's estate in Sudbury or elsewhere to our brother, Jason Rice."⁸

He and Deacon Edward Rice were Edward and Agnes Rice gave to their son, Edmund Rice of Sudbury, half of the farm lying within the bounds of Sudbury, "near the spring". (Edward has purchased som of this land from his father Edmund and some of the land from his brother Benjamin. John Rice of Sudbury, a brother of Edmund, had the choice half.) Deed recorded August 16, 1734 on Apr 1, 1686 at Sudbury, Massachusetts.

     Daniel Rice was born on Nov 8, 1655 at Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He married Bethiah Ward, daughter of William Ward and Elizabeth (?), on Jan 10, 1681 at Marlborough, Massachusetts. Daniel Rice died on Jul 14, 1737 at age 81.
     He house was one of those fortified against Indian attacks between 1711 and 1713.

     Mary Rice was born on Sep 4, 1656. She married Joseph White in 1678. Mary Rice died on Aug 22, 1733 at age 76.

     Hannah Rice married (?) Hubbard. Hannah Rice was born in 1658. She died on Apr 9, 1747.

     Captain Peter Rice was born on Oct 24, 1658 at Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, British Colonial America. He married Rebecca How, daughter of Abraham (Progenitor) How Sr. and Hannah Ward, circa 1688 at Marlborough, Massachusetts, there is no record of their marriage in Marlborough, but Rebecca was mentioned as the wife of Peter Rice in her father's will of 1694 and as Rebecca Rice in her mother's will of 1716. Captain Peter Rice died on Nov 28, 1753 at Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at age 95. He was buried at Old Common Cemetery, Marlborough, Massachusetts.

He served during Colonial Militia in 1711 and "was the captain of the train-band, and one of the committee, in 1711, who designated the garrison houses in that town, and the heads of families that were to belong to them respectively, or resort to them in case of emergency"
...a commissioned officer in the colonial militia served practically for life; that the unit of military organization was the company othewise called the town training band or train-band and that the direct maintenance of military discipline depended upon the captains. These officers were clothed with considerable power. Promotion was also systematic and regular, and long service in any office the rule. The duties of any office, however dangerous, was considered as an obligation and an honor. He resided at Marlborough, Massachusetts, where Peter built, and his descendants for many generations occupied, the Peter Rice Homestead. This home is now the residence of the Marlborough Historical Society.

     Mary How was born on Jun 30, 1659 at Watertown, Massachusetts. She married John Bowker, son of Edmund Bowker and Margaret (?), on Feb 8, 1678 at Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts; Ward book says January 8, 1678. Mary How died on Sep 29, 1723 at Marlborough, Massachusetts, at age 64.

     Ruth Rice was born on Sep 29, 1659 at Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. She married Samuel Wells. Ruth Rice died on Mar 30, 1742 at age 82.
