     He lived in government housing when the ship SS Grandcamp exploded at 9:12 A.M. at the docks in Texas City. Charles was in the 9th grade school, outside for P.E. in shorts. A dark cloud came over the island and all the students outside got very cold because the sun was blocked out on Apr 15, 1947 at Galveston, Galveston County, Texas. He was an aircraft mechanic to Chief Warrant Officer 2, working as a legal officer and in Navy Intelligence. from 1954 to 1974. He was a machinist from 1978 to 1999 at San Diego, California.

     Irl James Parr was born on Jun 17, 1933 at Westhoff, Texas. He married Nelda Novene Cooper, daughter of Newel Willie Cooper and Lu Dell Duncan. Irl James Parr died on Jun 2, 2003 at Cuero, DeWitt County, Texas, at age 69. He was buried at Hillside Cemetery.
